It will be my duty and my pleasure as a member of the Portland School Board to see that students and teachers are supported to achieve their goals.

  Together We Will

  • Ensure that every student has rigorous learning experiences.

  • Recruit, retain and support the educators who are committed to student growth.

  • Advance the Portland Promise.

  • Recruit and hire an outstanding new Superintendent.

  • Insist on respectful and transparent communication.

  • Be responsible stewards of the community’s resources.

  • Married to John R. Opperman, retired lawyer, for 46 years

  • Mother of two sons who both graduated from Portland Public Schools

  • School and Community Volunteer

  • Graduate of Wellesley College, MIT and University of Southern Maine

  • Doctor of Public Policy, with concentration in Educational Policy and Leadership, from the Muskie School of Public Service

  • Member, Maine Education Association
